Biography
Marcelo Gleiser is currently the Appleton Professor
of Natural Philosophy and a Professor of Physics and
Astronomy at Dartmouth College, USA. After his undergraduate
studies in physics in his native Rio de Janeiro, Brazil,
he completed his Ph.D. at King's College, University
of London in 1986.
Marcelo's
current research includes the physics of the early
universe and the origin of life.
He
has also written two popular books on cosmology and
religion, 'The Prophet and the Astronomer' and 'The
Dancing Universe'. Gleiser writes a science column
every Sunday in a supplement of the Folha de São
Paulo newspaper. He has been awarded the Presidential
Faculty Fellows Award from the White House and the
National Science Foundation.
