Biography
Dean Liprini has spent 15 years researching the
sacred sites of Southern Africa. His recently published
book: Pathways of the Sun suggest an extraordinary
level of ancient expertise and understanding uniting
the fields of archaeology, astronomy and mythology.
'The
Maths and Science that has been used by the
ancients in their astronomical shrines has a foundation
of a great spiritual wisdom that honours all of Nature,
its seasons and cycles - the "heartbeat"
and natural rhythms that support all life. It also
encompasses the greater cycles of the cosmos, the
major movements of the Sun, Moon and Stars that dictated
the events of their lives.
The
mathematical formula of the shrines and their layout
- that are in fact highly advanced astronomical calendars
- use a form of spherical trigonometry in a step-pyramidal
format that is created and formed not only by the
physical layout of the shrines and their marker stones,
but also by a combination of the spiralling light
and shadow paths that are mapped out by the shrines
interaction with the light of the sun and moon. In
addition to this, the mathematical principles of reflection
combine to create a magical and holistic account of
the cosmic event taking place - "As above so
below"
